As near as I'm aware, a number of PH words were changed to F in Middle English, but then when English speakers decided they wanted to pretend English was more Latin than it was all of them except for the fantasy, fancy, etc. ones were eventually changed back.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.
