    Default 8-bit music: how?

I've done similar to 8-bit , or 'chip music' as it's also known, by putting a riff/melody etc into a cellphone, then putting it through a big speaker, then processing the sound further. Is there an easier way to compose stuff in 8-bit style?

There are VSTs for recording software that contain 8-bit sound sets and also bit crushing software. I believe the former contains samples of 8-bit sounds whilst the latter will "8-bitify" a guitar or keyboard or whatever other line you have recorded.
