Default Was there ever a US President who was universally liked?

Presidents in the US seem to be very divisive individuals. IIRC Reagan won re-election by a landslide in '84 but he always had vociferous critics. Has any US President ever come close to being universally liked, that is by the majority of Republicans/Democrats/Others despite their party allegiance?

Other than Washington himself? Not that I can think of. Even Theodore & Franklin Roosevelt had no shortage of detractors. I think Ike might have been the least reviled overall. The economy was great and the country at peace and he was Republican but not old school so was able to work with the Dems. He was well respected as a War Leader.

I don't think such a thing is possible. We are a spiteful and contrary people.

Carter. I cannot think of anyone who every had a bad thing to say about Jimmy Carter.

I recall that Billy was also beloved.

I hear a lot of people these days saying that Carter was an ineffective, sweater-wearing wuss.

Oliveloaf was joking. Carter was practically a joke and completely incapable of controlling his own party. (In large part due to the Boston Dems in Ted Kennedy and Tip O'Neill undermining him.)

Billy Carter was a complete joke.
