Default 10-10 or Cutting Carbon Emissions the Richard Curtis Way

Richard Curtis, the comic writer of Blackadder was commissioned to create a movie short about global warning, called 10-10. It had a host of stars and celebrated everyone who is tackling Carbon Emissions...

...by blowing up those who don't.

What are you thoughts on this piece of propaganda?

When you have thought about it, you might want to visit the site and have a look. In principal, it is a worthy cause, but this short is just tasteless.

I take environmental concerns pretty seriously, but that video seems to only be good for preaching to the self-righteous choir. If the blowing up happened as a result of them not doing anything rather than somebody pushing a button I could sort of see the point. As it is, it just comes off as some kind of bizarre homicidal fantasy directed towards the apathetic.

The apology is sort of silly, but I guess it's better to say you'll be implementing "review processes and procedures" (as if nobody had watched it before it went public) than admitting you were too stupid to realize seeing children turned into pink mist might offend some people.

It is terrible. It's not particularly funny, and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's designed to go viral but likely has backfired in the sense that this POS won't attract any more people to the cause and may very well turn a number of supporters off. It's philosophically suspect, not funny, and doesn't do what it sets out to do. Two thumbs down.

It has done no good, has likely done some harm and doesn't make much sense, like TOAG said. If we fail to reduce our "carbon footprints" it isn't environmentalists with big red buttons we should worry about. It's our children and the unpleasant burden we'll be leaving them with.
