Croc Thread
I took a class of lil uns to the croc farm yesterday, and managed to take some photos. I learnt lots of interesting stuff about these creatures (crocodiles, not so much the children) and tasted some croc. Tastes like chewy, gamy chicken. Yeah.

Also, an anecdote:
While we were trying our croc meat samples, I took a bit bite (I was really hungry). The girl next to me looked tentative, nad asked me: 'Mr. Spitz, what does it taste like?'. I said, 'A lot like chicken'. She looked tentatively down at the meat, then tentatively back up at me, then back at the meat. She nibbled a bit off, then her face erupted in an explosion of happiness, she said, 'WOW! IT DOES TASTE LIKE CHICKEN, MR. SPITZ!'
Yeah. Apparently, they keep their mouths open like that because the skin on their body is too thick to readily absorb the warmth from the sun. So they open their mouths, and put the sunshine on their tongues to speed up the process. They treat the sun like LSD. I thought that was really cool.
Australian school children go to a crocodile farm as a treat...I couldn't be happier....it's yet more evidence for my new theory: "Actually, real life is pretty much like the movies."

But yeah, crocs use their mouths to regulate their temperature. They'll also gape to let heat escape the body if they're too hot.
And they look so happy when they're doing it! I wonder if my sister would let me keep one for a pet here...Schnappi
