    Default It's not Christmas yet

I cannot believe it, already one of our local stores has decided that now is the ideal time to get out the Christmas wares and start selling them in the run up to Christmas.

It's not even October. Halloween is still to come.

Can't you wait until at least November before rolling out your crass commercialisation.

What next, get your Easter Eggs in the January Sales.

Lots of Halloween stuff out for the last 2 weeks or so. They were clearing out the back to school stuff before we even got my daughter's list of supplies. But no Christmas stuff yet. I really hate the business model that the US & UK seem to have come up with, make sure you buy your swimsuit in Spring, they're clearance items by July 1st. Coats and Snow Boots? Why didn't you get those before Thanksgiving? January 2nd is not too early for Valentine's Day!

Obviously it somehow works for retailers but that doesn't mean it does not suck!

Yeah, for the last two weeks my daughter has been in a panic because I haven't ordered the sunbonnet she needs to be Laura Ingalls for Halloween. I keep telling her there's plenty of time, but seeing all the stuff in the stores for a month has put her in overdrive.

Halloween is only just taking off in the UK but is already heavily commercial.

Lots of kids going around demanding sweets with menaces.

The re was a shop in here about a month ago that had a big sign saying (I'm paraphrasing): 'WE HAVE XMAS THINGS HERE ALREADY. WE'RE THE FIRST PLACE EVAH TO HAVE XMAS SHIT THIS YEAR! WOO FOR US!!' I won't shop there until the xmas shit is gone. Pathetic.

I genuinely don't understand the hostility toward Christmas stuff being available. The only reason it's there is that there is a demand for it. Sure, I get that the stores are hoping to stir up interest when most people aren't thinking about the holidays, but look, they aren't fabricating the demand out of thin air. Obviously somebody wants to buy their motorized Santas and obnoxioius giant snow globes in August.

There isn't really any demand for it.

The only reason there might be a demand for it in September is because the shops have told you there is a demand and you are a worthless consumer if you haven't bought the latest set of tree lights, the novelty santa or extra large tree.
