Heh. Good stuff.
Somehow I doubt Mr. Collins will be signing up: http://red.shirt.society.fanspace.com/

I'll be out of town for the better part of a week, with uncertain Internet access, so the game will now go on hiatus through Dec. 30. Thanks for your playing and helpful feedback so far; I hope you're having as much fun with this as I am. Merry Christmas to those who will be celebrating it, and best wishes to those who will not!
Merry Christmas to all. Safe travels.
I'm having so much fun with this! So glad to be a part of it.
Looking forward to more fun and adventure in the new year.
Here's hoping travel goes well for everyone who is.
Likewise, thanks! Just got back from Vermont safe and sound tonight.

Wishing everyone a very happy and safe new year.

For those interested.... A Google search will lead you to many websites, blogs and forums related to Robert Frost and his poems. I would also suggest an excellent book, "The Poetry of Robert Frost -- The Collected Poems, Complete and Unabridged" edited by Edward Connery Lathem and published by Henry Holt and Company.
Congrats to Elendil's Heir for their SDMB staff report Who's America’s top judge?!

Sorry for the delay. A long and busy weekend here.

Happy Birthday WES.
Thanks so much for the birthday greetings. Had a nice day -- despite more snow and ice. This weather pattern is getting very old very fast. SIGH
Re: anyrose's post 652:
Collins quietly signals Delaney "Bring the others and join us, I want to know what your equipment says is in this room" she indicates the supposedly empty room to Pourtash and Hayes[.]
Remember that the Captain named Ens. Pourtash to command the boarding party.
As I'm about to go on a family trip and won't have my notes with me, the game will go on hiatus until Feb. 23. Hope you're having fun, and thanks for your patience!
Have fun!
You're kind of leaving us at cliff-hanger, you know.
I recently noticed this ring in a catalog we get: http://www.naturesjewelry.com/itemdy...rsearch=j61511
Just read this Tolkien-inspired picture book, which I got from the library - the artist, Donato Giancola, has a different take on things than Lee, Howe, etc., but some of his imagery is quite arresting: http://www.amazon.com/Middle-Earth-V...8520807&sr=1-1
I guess we'll see if Mr. Pourtash agrees with you.
I thought this game looked like a blast. A group of people use their computers to simulate a starship bridge crew:
Anybody else wanna post anything in the game thread?
Zuul (Ens. Pourtash) has not responded to several PMs, and ds9writer (Dr. Brownlock) finally emailed me to say that he wished to withdraw from the game. I'm inclined to run their characters myself until the end of this mission, and then bring in two more players from among those who expressed an interest when we began in July. Or I could bring in two new players immediately, either to run those characters or two different ones.
Any thoughts?
I vote for bringing in two new characters ASAP
Zuul is on a LOA for now, iirc. They won't be back for a spell.
New players sound like a good idea. If you have interested people, bring them on board.
Also players, please explore the rest of Mellophant. There is more then just games here. Also a lot of other games. Not just RPGs.
I am open to either idea, though I think bringing in two new characters right now would be best. Gives two people who've expressed an interest a chance to play.
So sorry to lose two of our original crew members, though.
Mea culpa, guys. I got home from my trip and just utterly crashed from a combination of things. If it's okay, I do want to continue playing Pourtash.
Thanks for your feedback, everyone, and welcome back, Zuul. By all means, continue to play Pourtash. I'm sure you'll be more involved from now on, or will let me know ASAP when you can't or won't be. I remind everyone that Rule 12 provides, "Please check the setup and game threads at least every other day."
I'll find another player to either pick up Dr. Brownlock's character, or to develop another medico type.
Something to share from the early days of the Internet. Author unknown:
"FIFTY WAYS TO KILL AN ENSIGN"
The problem is something 'bout your clothes, she said to me
The red shirt and the stripeless sleeves yell, "I'm Security!"
And when you get down planet-side with Kirk, you'll get to see
There must be fifty ways to kill an ensign
He takes a landing party down to find what's going on
A couple of the bridge crew, and some extras come along
And then before you know it - the `expendables' are gone
There must be fifty ways to kill an ensign
Fifty ways to kill an ensign
Just step on a rock, Jock
Get thorns from some plants, Lance
A Horta can spray, Ray
Just listen to me
Clouds drink up your blood, Bud
Computers can kill, Bill
You could lose all your salt, Walt
Kirk gets away free...
She said it grieves me so to see you with such nerves
Not ev'ryone who goes with Kirk will suffer from this curse
But then of course, you must recall - they sometimes suffer worse
There must be fifty ways to kill an ensign
Just tell him, "I'm not stupid and I'm not expendable
I'm not going!" Tell him that he's a Denebian slime devil
And he's overbearing, swaggering, and dictatorial
He'll find a new way to kill an ensign
Fifty-one ways to kill an ensign
Love it! Love it love it love it - and quite appropriate today, on Shatner's 80th birthday.
Glad you're still with us, Zuul! Love the "red shirt" piece! Thanks for sharing!
An update: I've asked another Mello member who'd expressed an interest in the game last summer if he (or she?) would be interested in either playing Dr. Brownlock, or creating another doctor, nurse or medtech character. No reply yet.
If there are any Mello lurkers who've been following the game and are interested, or if you know someone who might be interested, please let me know.
I will be without 'net this weekend. I'll be home Sunday late afternoon, but likely won't read or post until sometime on Monday. Do Collins proud!
waiting to be told where to cut
Good thing we're getting union wages.
Wait, what do you mean there's no money? :
