Default Hey hey, it's Opening Day

Yeah, I know that technically the season opened last night with the Sox beating the Evil Yankees, and while that was a good game and it felt like baseball season for sure, today is the full on Opening Day. The Cubbies face the Braves this afternoon, and all is right with the world. The weather has been really nice for the last week or so, but today is really the first day of spring in my book.

Thank goodness it's here, I'm ready for the 2010 MLB season.

I love that it is baseball season but last night was kind of sucky. The late start being part of the problem.

    All that said, GO YANKEES!

Speaking of the Devil's Own Yankees, when the hell did you guys pick up Curtis Granderson? I missed that one until I watched the dude homer in his first bat last night. That's a real nice addition.

Last night I had a dream that I was a Cubs fan. I was even walking around wearing a Cubs hat and Cluricaun and Sarah and I were eating hot dogs. It was...very odd.

Good for you dear! Since the only other option you really have is to root for the Brewers, which nobody actually does.

Well, I think it's only natural to dream like that, seeing how Wisconsin doesn't have a major league ball club of its own.

It was an excellent 3 team trade that just might benefit all three teams. The Yanks gave up a good lefty reliever in Phil Coke and young CF prospect Austin Jackson and got Granderson. We also gave up Ian Kennedy who went with two from Detroit including Edwin Jackson for two starters from Arizona.

As to Cubs, they actually are my #2 team. (a distant 2 but my #2).

That was a great move for them, that dude is going to have a huge year, no doubt about it.

My number two team waivers between the first team I ever loved, the Dodgers, and the Red Sox. The past few years it's been more on the side of the Sox, but when the Cubs play the Dodgers I always feel conflicted.

Hey, born in the Bronx here and third generation Yankees fan. I've rooted for them all my life and one of my earliest memories involved Mickey Mantle Day in 1969.

Awesome game last night. Go Sox! (Look, Jim, you know we own you in April. Let us have our month, okay?)

If that's true then rooting for the Red Sox is like watching The Apprentice and rooting for Rod Blagojevich.

It's all part of the Cubs plan you see, to lose by the largest number of runs in franchise history on an opening day. Mu-hahahahaha!

Well, I take back anything I ever said about the Cubs being unable to do anything right.

Rooting for the Yankees is like watching Star Wars and cheering for the Death Star to wipe out the Rebels.

Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Bill Gates to break the ellusive $200 billion in personal wealth barrier and offering to chip in to help the cause.

Rooting for the Yankees is like wishing that Standard Oil had never been forced to break up.
    Hell is other people.

Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the USA. Professional and winners! We are the Yankees after all. Nothing more American than that.
Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the World Champions.
Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for a team that cares more about winning than making money.

Also the bullpen did what the bullpen was suppose to do last night and the Yanks beat the Redsux to now even up the records.

Rooting for KC is like rooting for a train wreck run by a Billionaire owner that likes to pocket other people’s money.
Rooting for the Pirates is well like rooting for Pirate intent on just taking your money and giving you nothing in return.
Rooting for the Dodgers is like rooting for Benedict Arnold, an organization that left the city that loved it.
Rooting for the Giants is like rooting for an organization that got suckered into going along with Benedict Arnold and got nothing to show for it.
Rooting for the Red Sox is like being part of some weird masochistic cult of whiners that blindly support their team no matter what and turns on their stars with great ease.
Rooting for the Cubs show high moral fiber and perseverance as they rarely fall to the whining that the Red Sox fans never cease to annoy others with. The at least demonstrate how to lose with dignity.
Rooting for the Mets …, well I just feel kind of sorry for Met fans honestly.

Cite - Jim has never listened to even thirty seconds of Chicago sports talk radio.

Also, Rooting for the White Sox is like announcing to the world that you didn't graduate from High School.

And, in many cases, that even the G.E.D. was too hard going for you.

From my hometown: rooting for the Orioles is like being over 70 years old. Really.

True all sports talk radio ends up with the whiniest fans. I here Yankee Fans bitching they 'cheaped' out this year.
Red Sox fans are just a constant Drone, far worse than the Philly or Met fans. They were whiny back before the days of Talk Radio.

This I did not know. I knew very few White Sox fans though.

When it comes to sports talk, we really have two choices. ESPN 1000, or The East Coast Sports Network as it should better be called, and The Score 670, which consists pretty much of over modulating cell phone yellers saying such stupid things that they're dumbfounding hosts older than my parents. There are two major themes on The Score:

    1. Cubs? No, White Sox! White Sox? No, Cubs! Bleaaaaaaaarrrgghhhh!!!!

    2. Bears? Baaaah, just fuck you Bears, you assholes.
