    Exclamation Help name this dog!

So a little while ago, this ad pops up on Craigslist.

This is actually the second version of said ad. The first one pointed out that this dog had litters before, and just how much the puppies sold for.

Now, I am moving soon. I am broke. I have plenty of animals. I do not need another. I also started looking for a Corgi back in 2006, had no luck with the breeders I contacted, and ended up adopting my sweet Marlowe in 2007. But now here's a Corgi right in my own town who sounds like she's been used as a puppy machine and will likely continue to be used this way, and I have to write them.

    (Sweet Marlowe, for evidence)

So I do. I tell them a bit about myself, the kind of home she'd have, and ask what their 'adoption fee' is.

The e-mail I got back simply said "$200 obo"

I have $200. But I really couldn't bring myself to spend it on a dog I didn't need, especially when said dog would also need to be spayed and other things. I debated with myself. I tried to get my best friend/soon to be roommate to talk me out of it. I consulted with Zuul, who is usually good at keeping me in line.

And in the end I wrote back and said I couldn't do $200 right now, but if no one else could take her I could offer $50 and a loving home.

I didn't hear back from them. The ad got taken down. It went back up. It vanished again.

Finally on Friday I got a phone call while I was out with the horses. 'Hi Rabbitmage, this is So and So with the Corgi. If you can take her this weekend, I'll take $50 for her."

    So TL;DR: I got a Corgi.

    The Name
She came with a name that's both hard to call and one I don't really like, so the hunt is on. Being a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, I was tempted to give her some Welsh name. Or at least something kind of regional. But I haven't found much I liked. So, Phants, this is where you come in. The names don't have to be any kind of anything, just throw out names you like for her.

She's a very sweet girl, and very calm for a Corgi. She's more like a dog-shaped pillow that occasionally eats and poops. She loves laps and if you scratch her just right she smiles.

So far I've come up with Cassie, Casey, Finn, Reese, and Winnie. The first four I like but don't think fit her, the last one I'm not very fond of but it seems to suit her better than the others.

Oh and here are some extra pictures.

    What about Wendy?

At the moment I'm liking Inanna, but I'm not sure how well that would work for calling her.

Perky could work, on the ironic misnomer theory.

Beyond that, sorry, I'm coming up blank.

Staying with the Welsh idea, how about Gwen short for Gwenhwyfar?

That is my favorite Welsh name.

If this was a boy dog, you could just give it an Irish surname as a name. Lord knows how many dogs named Murphy there are in Chicago.

    How 'bout:

    Kelly
    Missy
    Misty
    Maggie
    Camaro
    Roughage
    Horksalot

I kinda ran out of ideas there at the end.

    Go with Missy.

Doesn't this butt just scream "Freyja"?

I don't know but I want to gently spank that butt forever.

    On a related note:

The owners have to relocate the dog pronto, but are negotiating the price.

You'd think they'd just be happy to find a suitable home.

I don't like those people, not one bit.

I was going to suggest Gwen or Edwina, but Freyja is pretty awesome too.

Why not stop beating about the bush: Hot Dog!

Or if that's too explicit, how about: Frankie?

I love Gwenhwyfar, too. But I think this Corgi looks more like a Morvudd. And whatever her name is, she is just adorable.

And I second, Oliveloaf I do not like those people at all.

The mention of Roosevelt got me thinking that Eleanor might be a good name, Ellie for short. Perhaps?

I always thought if I had a corgi, I would name it Lillibet, after the Queen. She loves corgis.

Oh, and btw, Oliveloaf has stealthily suggested his sister's name as a possible name for your dog, so ignore everything he says.

Another tradition in Chicago is to name a dog Wrigley, can't go wrong with that, IMO.

    Well then...Mello?

Since my real name is Wendy, I like this! It'd be the second Wendy-dog I've "met." The first was an Irish Setter, at a point when I was featuring red hair.

I love Corgis. We've had two Corgi/Beagle mixes (see avatar) and they're wonderful!
