I like her! I agree she isn't hot, but I enjoy her personality, and in comparison to the weekend morning lineup she's plunked into the middle of (Sunny Anderson, Claire Robinson, Sandra Lee, etc.), she's a superstar cook. Her show and Good Eats are the only two on Food Network that I have set to record automatically.

Ya know, I was forced to watch some of her pre-recorded show a couple times hanging out with OCS and Artifex. Sure, she has weird hair, and I didn't like her all that much. But she makes good food, and she knows how to cook. I'm not forced to watch her anymore, I watch her gladly.

But that's just it, her food isn't that good. It's certainly not on the level of a Tyler Florence or an Ina Garten or a Bobby Flay. She's using the cheapest pop in cooking, add a ton of salt. Most people don't add that much salt to the various stages of cooking and that's why they think food when you go out to eat is better, because it's salty as all hell and it can make flavors pop. That's it. She has one secret. Other than that her food isn't anything special, she's not a great cook, she's not very inventive, and anything that she gets to make is just the scraps of what hasn't been made by someone else that week, and made better.

Hell, I hate the Neeleys too and I think they make better food. Big Daddy and his Earring of Annoyance is better. I suspect that Ted "Mystery Ingrediant" Allen is a better cook than she is. The only one worse is Guy "Hot Peppers In Anything Make It My Own Idea" Fieri and he stole that schtick from Bobby Flay in the first place.
Hell, if I didn't do things just because they made me feel a bit ridiculous, I wouldn't have much of a social life. - Santo Rugger.

I haven't made all that many of her recipes, but her gnocchi transformed my perception of gnocchi. Also, she makes a point of washing her goddamned hands, and for that I much appreciate her.

This was the first dish I thought of. It makes most gnocchi taste like racquetballs. We're also totally going to try her foccacia.

    I miss Sarah Molton (sp?)
Justin Wilson - he was fun to watch!

I really enjoyed Martin Yan's show and I love Nigella Lawson.

    I like Ming Tsai.

I hate the phony competitions. The dream cakes bullshit. I'm sick of Ace of Cakes, but I like Cake Boss since he runs a real bakery.

I hate the repetiveness of all the shows. I used to like Paula Deen and the Neely's, but they're both waaaay over the top these days.

I loathe Guy Ferry. Loathe. He doesn't deserve to be the same size as the rest of the chefs. Ewwww.

FWIW, the focaccia as laid forth by Anne came out really well.

So I was just randomly looking through my photobucket account, and I found some classic pictures. A few years ago, we decided to test one of Sandra Lee's recipes and compare it to one of Alton Brown's. We chose to make the recipes for funnel cake. I'll let the pictures do all the talking.

I'm still swimming in harmony. I'm still dreaming of flight. I'm still lost in the waves night after night...
