Andrew was adopted, so there's hope for him.
I can sympathize with your pet peeve. I suppose that bothers me as well, although I don't go to the theater as often as you. I know I am bothered by the quick wrap up of all loose ends/heartwarming/upbeat happy type endings*. I mean, just because your dad apologizes, doesn't mean that his years of drinking are suddenly forgotten, forgiven and ok, right? (Pretty in Pink--I think). Stuff like that.
*Unless the film has earned that ending. Little Miss Sunshine earned her ending, but even that wasn't "and they all lived happily ever after!" schmaltz.
I will confess that I thought this thread was about pet peeves within the theater, of which I have many:
1. Turn off your damned cell/crackberry/palm/whatever miniature electronic device you can't cope without.
2.STFU--if you two want to talk so badly, go out for coffee, not a movie.
3. Don't eat smelly food. This is a losing battle because now the concession stand sells smelly food.
4. I hate, hate, hate commercials prior to a film. I paid my $10 or whatever. Stupid previews I can sit through; commercials make me determined to NEVER buy the products advertised. Since I am not an 18 year old male, this present little sacrifice to me.
