Tell me about your high school crush
Mine was two years younger than me (scandal!) so he was a sophomore when I was a senior. He was wicked smart. He first came to my attention when I was a freshman. My school had a program where "gifted" 7th graders were encouraged to take the S.A.T. I took it and set a record for my school. (It was a small school, OK?) Two years later he came along and blasted my record out of the water. That made me sit up and take notice, and when he turned about 15 and started to come up all manly that was it. He was also an artist and had a sly sense of humor. He claimed to be able to read people's minds....I know he was just using it to fuck with people but he was scary accurate at times. I don't think he ever knew how badly I wanted to jump his bone. He thought I was in love with my male best friend (which, ew.....he had booger breath). He was on the track team and would wear his track shorts to school on days before a meet. He had delightfully hairy legs.
Oh, J_________. How I adored you. I google stalked you a couple of years ago and you were a bit baldy and your teeth looked weird but the love has not dimmed.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
My Highschool Crush by hatesfreedom
My highschool crush at first was a girl about my size with wit, intelligence, and daring. At this point I remember thinking she was a bit more foul mouthed than me. I also had some sort of legendary bowl cut that womens that I went to school with STILL remind me of to this day as epically awful. Anywho, the crush and I had a few classes together and we hit it off pretty well, but I was at this point still a terribly shy young man. Instead of who I am today which is a terribly terrified older man. So, I never really made a move and after much time passed she found a guy and then told me that she'd just been waiting for me to do something. So I missed my chance thanks to inaction. I ran into her later on and she has two kids from the guy she met shortly after I knew her. I don't feel bad about this because she's a lot more normal and boring than she use to be while I'm a lot stranger and more fun than I use to be. I suppose we kind of switched spots.
After that I also had a crush on a girl that wasn't in my highschool. She was short, witty, and about twice as intelligent as me. I'd probably follow her into hell just so I wouldn't get left behind. She remains very important to me in a totally awesome friend way.
and that's my story until I get into college. which are much better stories.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
In high school my libido had me crushing on someone every 15 to 20 minutes were I between girlfriends. Cluricuan likes the ladies.
-
Re: Tell me about your high school crush
I had tons of crushes in grade school and junior high, but by high school I mostly had minions.
I actually ran into a grade school crush at a bar a couple of months ago. He looked exactly the same, except taller. It was nice to see him, but the love, it was gone.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
My first high school crush was a gorgeous, smart, nerdy yet rebellious kind of guy who confused me because while he seemed to like me, he was strangely reluctant to get physical. He was gay, of course, and either didn't know it or wasn't ready to admit it. I had long moved on before he came out of the closet, but I felt better about the whole situation when I found out.
I found him online recently, and we exchanged a couple of emails. He told me way too much about his personal problems, considering he hasn't seen me in nearly 20 years. The love is gone. He's still good-looking, but he looks like he has spent a significant portion of his life partying a little too hard. And he's not at all the physical type that would attract me now.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
Oh my, I had two crushes in high school.
One was a boy not in the same class as me. I would wistfully watch him from across the schoolyard. He had a kind of rugged beauty, I never saw him smile. He was mysterious!. He was in the same class as my best friend so I got hold of their class picture to scan it and crop his face. I of course never ever even tried to talk to him. I was an ugly duck and he was really handsome. I think he might have been an asshole though.
I don't know what he has become.
My second and longer crush was for a guy in the same class as me. I was finding him gorgeous, though I think I was the only one to think that. He was my fav kind of guy, dark haired and already hairy. I loooved swimming class because it would means seeing him in a speedo! Strong hairy legs, mmmh...
He would often dress kinda dorky and he was quite shy and really really smart. We would talk from time to time. Our friendship deepened a bit because, since we were both unable to tell someone to fuck off, we would very often ended up having to listen to the political propaganda some guy would come to lay on us after school, right at the gate. I don't remember which party though. So it was the occasion to stay together for another hour!
Once we left highschool, I saw him a couple of times in the metro, he was living near me. I then met him during election's time, he had voluntered to help running the booths, so I gladly offered my help too for the evening
I saw him again for next elections, but by then I had changed sex so it's always a bit awkward you know, even more so since I had picked the same name as him, so I just said hi.
I don't know what he has become. I've just saw on google that when he was 18yo he got involved with the local youth section of the socialist party.

I went from girl to boy. He was a boy and still was (well, I think).
Well... at least I think that's what you were asking... :???:

His name was Keith and he once borrowed my headphones. After that they smelled like his hair cream. It just made me swoon at the time.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
When I was in 7th grade, I was talking to my friend on the school bus when this skinny, nerdy kid in sweatpants and glasses walked by. I literally stopped everything just to watch him go by. He had dark curly hair, olive skin, and a very Greek-featured face. My friend, who knew him personally, gave me the most dubious look she could manage and said, ''Really? Kelly?''
Yes, Kelly. Kelly every day, for the next five years. Kelly was tallish, broad-shouldered, and most importantly, brilliant. His father was a pastor, and I was deeply religious. He was a critical thinker, just as liable to criticize some tenet of the church than anything else. We both hated South Park (note: I stopped hating South Park in college.) He was a gamer, a Magic: The Gathering Player, therefore perfect. Our social circle had significant overlap and we frequently attended the same parties, but I don't think I said two words to him in the five years we attended school together. I do have one particularly fantastic memory of kicking his ass in a game of air hockey. I was a painfully shy young lady. By day, I'd just stare from afar... he had no clue. Then I'd go home and write poetry about him. He awakened impulses in me I didn't even know I had. Some days it was all I could do not to tackle him to the floor. My feelings for him were based on about 90% lust and 10% reality.
Once, one of our mutual friends got wind of my crush and asked him to a dance on my behalf. He looked over at me, two lunch tables away, and made some polite excuse declining. I'm not exactly drop-dead gorgeous, but I'm pretty sure it had more to do with the fact that he barely knew who the hell I was and was quite shy himself.
Eventually I graduated high school, moved onto college, and met and fell in love with another man. Fairly early into our relationship we drove back to my hometown to see a play produced by my friends, who were still seniors. Kelly was wearing a t-shirt that said Save the Prostitutes. He saw me and waved hello, and having long gotten over the butterflies, I easily introduced him to my new love.
They shook hands, and then sort of stood back for a moment in perplexity. They looked, I shit you not, as if they were brothers. Dark, curly hair, brown eyes, Greek features, olive skin, and glasses. The only obvious visual difference was height. It was striking enough that they both noticed right away. AWKWARD. My husband still cracks up when he remembers the day he met the infamous Kelly.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
Well, this crush started in junior high but overflowed into high school.
Gina was so far out of my league we weren't even playing the same sport. I was a shy unathletic nerd with poor social skills, Gina was a gorgeous popular cheerleader who dated the upperclass football stars.
My downfall was in eighth grade, we happened to be put in the same group for some temporary project. Another guy in the group had also fallen under her spell but was harrasing her, she expressed her displeasure with him in no uncertain terms. Then she said to me in an offhand way "(my name), you're cute but I don't like that other guy" or something like that.
So I was hopelessly smitten for the next two years, I don't think she really knew who I was after that.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
Then there was R.
R. lived down the street from us. She was two years behind me in school like my younger brother, but we were closer than that in age because I was a year ahead of where I should have been in school. I was in the same grade as R.'s older brother.
I had known OF R. for years but didn't really get to KNOW her until I was 14 or so. She was friendly and outgoing with beautiful eyes and a radiant, million-watt smile. I was completely in love with her. Our neighborhood was isolated from any others, you couldn't really go anywhere unless you got a ride from your parents so the kids tended to hang out together. I was, as stated above, very shy but could talk to R. relatively easily, and we became good friends or so I thought at the time. I was way too shy to tell her how I felt though, and we moved away right around my 16th birthday. We tried sporadically to stay in touch but pre-internet, pre-cell phone, pre-Facebook and pre-email it was very difficult. She made lots of new friends, I graduated from my new school and went away to college, and that was it.
(I realize now that R. set the template for the "type" that I am attracted too...petite, brunette, ethnic look, outgoing describes practically every woman I have ever dated or been attracted to. It also describes the current Mrs. Lagomorph.)
25+ years later and R. and I had no contact.
Until two months ago. My brother is on Facebook and R. contacted him. He sent me her email and I hesitated for days about contacting her. Her email said she was married, I guessed she probably had kids, I'm married too with a kid. Also I doubted my memory from back then...my people skills were so bad R. probably didn't even know who I was, or barely remembered me. Why stir things up?
Finally I decided to leave it up to her, I sent her a very short email just to say hi. She responded with a long, warm, enthusiastic, affectionate email. We've had several exchanges since then and are definitely going to stay in touch from now on.
She's happily married to what sounds like a great guy and lives 10 states and 1,000 miles away so I have no illusions about anything else. She has had some near-fatal tragedy in her life so I am just glad she is still alive and happy. Just to reconnect at some level after all these years has been wonderful.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
Then there was Sheryl.
As stated above we moved when I was 16, this was halfway through my junior year. I had to spend the last year and a half in a high school where I knew no one else aside from my younger brother. Again, I was shy, socially awkward and now royally pissed off at fate. I made few friends, partly because I didn't try.
One day on the schoolbus home I sat next to a girl I didn't recognize. Initially she gave me a dirty look but then slid over, after a few minutes she started chatting with me.
Her name was Sheryl, she was gorgeous, beautiful flashing dark eyes, cheekbones that could cut glass (also petite, brunette, ethnic look). She was babysitting a kid that lived on our street so she would be on our bus several times a week.
She kept trying to draw me out in conversation but I couldn't figure out why such a hot babe was even deigning to talk to me. Finally she needled me about being too quiet, I made some sarcastic comment about other people who talked too much so people couldn't get a word in edgewise, and she rightfully got offended, refusing to talk to me unless I said something.
I was really sorry for offending her so I started off with an endless stream of prattle, lame jokes and one sided conversation. By the end of the bus ride she still wasn't talking to me but she was smiling and rolling her eyes at my pathetic attempts to make her laugh.
We were friends for about a year, I would see her several times a week when she rode our bus and I would always try to sit next to her and her me.
I was too shy to tell her I liked her, I went away to college, she started dating some other guy pretty seriously and that was that.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
The biggest crush of my teen years was Syril Astrahan. Long blonde hair down to her very perfect derriere, she used to wear very short skirts that showed off wonderfully long legs. And she was an honors student to boot............SIGH. Being painfully shy, I never even got up the nerve to talk to her.
Then there was Kim McLane. Cheerleader, runner up for Homecoming Queen*, a neighbor who rode the same bus that I did. I even found out that she "liked" me, but I was too lame to cash in on it. Yep, I was a loser in the high school romance department. :???:
*Ah, but I DID go out with Karen Holderman, who was Homecoming Queen two years later.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
My first was my hormones being jerks, selecting the hottest girl in high school. No chance there, especially after my best friend told everyone about my feelings. I forgave him, because I really, really did deserve it.
My second was less primal instinct, as she was friendly and intelligent as well as beautiful. But we were just friends, and I quickly learned she was interested in someone else. No chance there.
My third was a girl I was close to. There was a long period where she was as atracted to me as I was to her, but I was too shy to act on it. By the time I did she was no longer interested, and broke off our plans for Valentines Day at the last minute.
My fourth later turned out to be a lesbian.
Stupid hormones...

Hollywood has a lot to answer for, doesn't it? In movies, the Nice Guy just has to save the world to get the girl. In reality, stopping the evil overlord's hoards of robots would be the easy half of that.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
Barbara. She was two years ahead of me, and we met via Choir. She was artsy-fartsy and I was the photo geek taking pictures of everything in sight for yearbook fodder. We had some fun afternoons when her parents weren't home, but in the end, she left for UNC.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
I've never been high on the libido/hormone scale, and my crushes were always, "oh, he's cool and good looking," not, "oh, I'd love to jump his bones." My biggest one was actually on a teacher. He taught senior AP English, and it was his first year there. I think he was in his mid-20s. Smart, sarcastic, good looking in a bookish, long-hair-and-wire-rim-glasses sort of way (which isn't usually my type), and had insanely high standards for his students (which I took as a welcome challenge). Naturally I never let on that I had a crush on him (my best friend at the time did too, btw--come to think of it, I think most of the girls in the class did) but it definitely made an enjoyable class even more enjoyable.
Come to think of it, I don't recall ever having a crush on an actual student. I sort of had a little one on one guy, but just because I thought he was really good looking. Turns out he was gay (I think people suspected then, but you didn't come out in high school in the early 80s unless you wanted a lot of unwelcome trouble), and I recently saw a fairly current picture of him--he grew up absolutely gorgeous. Like, movie-star gorgeous. Even so, though, I wouldn't really call it a crush--more just admiring his looks.
Come to think of it, my one and only boyfriend in high school turned out to be gay too (at least I'm about 95% sure he did--I haven't seen him in many years, but at one of our high school reunions he wore an electric blue blazer with a skintight fluorescent pink lycra shirt, so I have my suspicions. Looked good on him too!). I think somebody was trying to tell me something. :)

Ah, Mary Anne.
My first love. My first romp in the sack. We started doing the deed in October, your father got transferred four months later. We wrote a couple of times and then no more.
It's been 44 years. I sometimes wonder where you are and what you are doing.

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
I won't tell you how many times I rode my bike past Charlie's house to get him to notice me.
He never did.
That BASTID! (in retrospect, he was too tall.)
Then there was Dennis.
Whom I screwed up the courage to ask to dance with me at the 8th grade farewell dance thing while at the dance. He said he would be right back and never came back. ( Considering the really bad perm, braces and just-released-from Auschwitz guantness of my pre-teen body, it's little wonder why.)
YOU BASTID!
Then there was Jeff. Oh...Jeff. Top in the class. Football captain. Drove a hot, hot car. The only thing I could beat him in was I was alphabetically superior to him with my last name being DE(something) and his being DE(Something). for three years our locker walls touched. (Swoon!) I outgrew my craptacular hair. The braces were removed. Got boobies and got some weight on . (remind me again of why getting to 100 on the scale was so important?) he noticed me. And asked me for my answers on a paper we were all working on. Mind you, he was in all those smarty pants AP. I was in the Too Stupid Dumb Ass Collection of Required Classes to Graduate. We only had a few classes together. I told him, " Nu uh. Do your own work, you loser!" And gave him the stink eye. He graduated #1 in our class. That was a bit of a wake up call for me.
He's a bastid, too. ( and I still get teased about him from my cousins, who won't let me forget that time period.)
Highlight is that through alumni stuff, every picture I've seen of him is of him very bald, pauchy and he sells insurance now. #1 in a private school to selling insurance. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!
(I'm unemployed and graduated at the bottom 10% from that private school who doesn't have a degree. Somehow, I AM better than anyone who sells insurance.)

Which one?
One died in a car crash.
I got a restraining order against another.
One lives too far away but is still the best friend I've ever had.
The last one I married.

We met freshman year, but then I moved away (my dad was in the Army). We kept in touch over email and wrote a lot of stupid letters to each other, and he even came to visit once in college but then things just tapered off. Then, about 5 years ago he emails me to say he's going to be back in Florida. We're catching up and he tells me he just got divorced. "Really?" I say, "Me too!"
He moved to a different city though, so for six months we drove back and forth to see each other. We just got married and bought a house last year.

This is only tangentially related to the OP, but... when I was 11 or 12, I had a huge crush on the girl in the "Come On Eileen" video because she reminded me of Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama.
Three days ago I found out that the girl is Maire Fahey, Siobhan's sister!

Re: Tell me about your high school crush
My crush was in the 7th grade. Her name was Jennifer. She was a beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed little angel. Very much an innocent little WASP from the 'burbs' (or so I thought).
We dated for 2 weeks, then she broke my heart. The most we ever did was make out after a school dance. I didn't even slip her the tongue. Later she told me, "Why didn't you try to do more? I would have liked that." I was sad.
In the 8th grade she went out with a french exchange student with huge lips. Freakishly huge. They would make out in study hall and I thought he would swallow her whole. It was sad.
I didn't see her again until high school. At that point she was dating an Indian guy (very nice guy who went on to become a doctor). They dated for 2 years. My only memory of that is when he announced to the entire locker room that her pussy smelled like rotten fish. They didn't last much longer. Sad.
A few years ago I learned that she's married to a dentist in Virginia. I never liked dentists, but she was always my first crush.

I met Syril once and your description of her is perfect.
