I'm not paranoid by nature. But given all the lies out of this White House, I can't help but wonder if this is either a play for a sympathy vote (God forbid Melania or their son, in particular, should become very ill and die), or a way to shake up the campaign in its last weeks, or a ready-made excuse to get out of debating again. Having so long downplayed the COVID-19 pandemic, this could also give the President a way to quickly recover (if he does) and then say, "See? I told you it isn't that bad."

It looks like the ceremony for the announcement of the President's Supreme Court pick may have been the spreader event. Three GOP senators have now been diagnosed with the disease; could complicate the party's plan to rush the nomination through before Election Day.
