ChiefScott of the Dope has passed away at a young age.

I don't know how many remember him, he did most of his posting before 2005 (before I joined) but came back for a while after. He had the great ability to tell a humorous story well. He was a one man campaign vs. Smilies.

I know he retired from the Navy as a Chief and lived and worked fairly close to me. He nearly came by for one of my Dopefests but it did not work out for him at the time. I think he was only around 2 years older than I but I could be remembering wrong.

I read about it on the SDMB.

I don't remember him, as I think I joined in 06? But I always feel kind of sad when I hear a Doper has died. What a shame.

Oh, that is really sad. Forty-six is incredibly young, too.

His family will be in my thoughts.

Especially sad when they were still young. I'm sure he was under 50 but a bit older than us.

Did you find his Obit? Or do you remember him well enough to know his age?

Oh, I see Marley23 found and posted it.

Marley posted a link. I'd been aware of him, but he was most active before I'd actually signed up on the Dope.

Oh, that's horrible. :( I can't fathom how hard it would be losing my dad at such a young age.
