Re: What causes hotel smell?
I travel often, and find it is only high-end places that do not smell like this.
I always assumed it was some combination of deodorizers and sanitizers.
Re: What causes hotel smell?
I know the smell you mean - I think it's a combination of cheap industrial detergents and bathroom cleaners.
Re: What causes hotel smell?
It's a combination of cigarette smoke, cigarette smoke remover, body fluids, and body fluid remover.
Re: What causes hotel smell?
I think the outgassing of the carpets and drapes contributes to it, too.
Re: What causes hotel smell?
The only smell that is constant is being near a chlorinated pool. All the rest smell funky in different ways. Different clients, different funk.
Re: What causes hotel smell?

Re: What causes hotel smell?

Re: What causes hotel smell?

Re: What causes hotel smell?

Re: What causes hotel smell?
The smell is called "shame".
Re: What causes hotel smell?
It's kind of like schools all having that same smell, though sometimes you can differentiate between which decade they were built in. I always liked the way the schools built in the 50s smelled. Must be all that asbestos.
